Authorities temporarily shutdown the eastbound lanes of Expressway 83 between Donna and Weslaco following a minor accident and to take measuresments from a previous accident.

It all happened between the Salinas Boulevard Exit in Donna and Westgate Drive in Weslaco late Sunday morning.

A minor traffic accident was reported just east of of the Salinas Bouelvard Exit off the easbound lanes of Expressway 83 in Donna.

But authorities kept traffic diverted on the frontage road of the expressway all the way to Westgate Drive in Weslaco.

Investigators said the eastbound lanes of the expressway were not shut down because of the accident but rather to take measurements for a fatal accident in Weslaco on Wednesday.

Authorities said the expressway was reopened around 11:45 a.m. Sunday.
