Progreso bridge owner passes away

Many are remembering Sam Sparks, the legendary owner of the Progreso-Nuevo Progreso International Bridge today.

Sparks passed away Wednesday night. He had just turned 84 on Christmas Eve.

A viewing will be held Friday from 5pm until 9pm at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 2pm on Saturday at Church of Christ in Harlingen, which is located on Harrison and 8th Street.

Burial services will be private.
