Time is running out for last minute Christmas shoppers looking to buy their gifts.

Action 4 News caught up with some of them today at the Rio Grande Valley Premium Outlets in Mercedes.

With less than 48 hours left until Christmas, Action 4 News found many shoppers scrambling to find that perfect gift for their loved ones.

But to do that, they braved traffic, long lines at the register, chilly temperatures and light rain.

Managers at the outlet mall said the shopping spree has been steady throughout the month but there have been peaks.

Last weekend and Friday were big days as many people got paid.

Rudy Treviño of Rio Hondo man said he waited an hour and a half to buy his wife a purse at Coach.

Some shoppers from as far away as Poza Rica, Veracruz in Mexico.

They said they were just enjoying the holiday specials and stocking up on items before heading home.

Mexican shoppers said they save up to 50 percent on good quality items buying them here rather than south of the border.

The outlet mall will remain open tonight until 10 p.m. Friday.

Managers said it will be open on Christmas Eve from  10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

After holiday sales begin at 7 a.m. Monday.
