A Brownsville mother is behind bars after she allegedly left her three young children in her SUV while she went shopping at a local WalMart.
Brownsville police arrested 31-year-old Maria Teresa Ojeda-Sanchez on three counts of child abandonment/endangerment on Wednesday night.
Investigators told Action 4 News that police officers were called out to the Walmart off Boca Chica Boulevard around 8:47 p.m. Wednesday.
Officers confirmed that three children ranging in ages from 7 to 1 years old were all inside a maroon Nissan Pathfinder alone.
Ojeda-Sanchez returned to the SUV where police arrested her.
The children were turned over to the custody a relative while police took the 31-year-old mother to the Brownsville City Jail.
Ojeda-Sanchez appeared before a Brownsville municipal judge on Thursday morning where she was issued $12,000 dollars in bonds.
