An elementary school in Palmview was temporarily under lockdown after a drug chase where police officers shot at a suspect vehicle.

It all happened near Henry B. Gonzalez Elementary School off North Goodwin Road early Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators told Action 4 News it all started with a drug chase that ended across the street from the school.

An officer shot at the suspect vehicle after the driver rammed it into a police vehicle.

The suspect fled on foot prompting a temporary lockdown at the school where parents were notified through a letter.

Action 4 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
