A chase that starting during McAllen's noon traffic has ended north of Edinburg with a man and woman facing criminal charges.

Area residents told Action 4 News that they saw several police units on North 10 Street around 12 p.m. Thursday.

Police confirmed that that they are involved in a chase, which ended on the on Ric Mar Street off Highway 281 just north of Edinburg.

Investigators told Action 4 News that a man and a woman are in custody.

The suspect vehicle, a 2010 Ford Fusion, is registered to Carolina Longoria at 1002 West Ric Mar Street in Edinburg.

Nearby Guerra Elementary School was placed under lockdown but the alert has been lifted.

Police Details

McAllen police told Action 4 News that the whole incident started with a traffic stop off Business 83 and South McColl Road.

Investigators said the white Ford Fusion matched the description of a vehicle used in several auto burglaries in McAllen.

The male driver of the Ford Fusion lead police on a multi-city chase that zig-zagged through several Hidalgo County streets and end up on U.S. Highway 281.

The driver and the female passenger are in custody where they're expected to be arraigned on Friday.

Police were seen giving the female passenger a breathalyzer test.

Investigators said could face evading arrest or other charges depending on course the investigation takes.

Family Reaction

Action 4 News went to the Ric Mar Street home where the car was registered to.

A person at the home told Action 4 News, "Get off my property."
