Authorities spent part of Wednesday evening searching for an elderly Hidalgo man who suffers from Alzheimer’s and went missing.

Family members told Action 4 News that 67-year-old Daniel Gutierrez went missing from his Ebano Street home earlier on Wednesday.

Gutierrez, who goes by the nickname El Campeon, used to be a professional boxer in his youth.

Family members told Action 4 news that Gutierrez has very advanced Alzheimer’s and does not make sense when he speaks.

Gutierrez reportedly took off in a silver Chrysler 300 with Texas license plates CD1-J081.

The 67-year-old man was last seen wearing grey shorts with a navy blue shirt and sandals.

Gutierrez’s daughter Ronnie Salinas reached out to Action 4 News on Facebook.

“We are all very worried and pray he gets home safe,” Salinas wrote.

The Hidalgo Police Department reported that Gutierrez had been located by Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District police officers.
