Three injured in boat fire reported at Brownsville shrimp basin

Firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire that left three people injured at the Brownsville Shrimp Basin.

It all happened on a boat docked off Boxcar Road shortly after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

According to reports, two people were burned on at least 15 percent of their bodies.

One of the burn victims reportedly fell 20 feet.

Officials with the Port of Brownsville confirmd that three people were injured with two of them rushed to a hospital.

Brownsville Fire Chief Lenny Perez told Action 4 News that the fire is out but a cause is not immediately known.

Action 4 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
