A Reynosa man is behind bars after authorities found more than $775,000 dollars worth of methamphetamines hidden in the trunk of his car.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested Aroldo Palacios-Garcia on federal drug charges on Thursday.

Court records show that Palacios-Garcia drove up to the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge in a Chevrolet Malibu.

Customs officers sent his car to secondary inspection where authorities noticed the smell of paint from inside the trunk of his car.

An X-Ray machine revealed 24 bundles of meth inside a hidden compartment.

Palacios-Garcia appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Dorina Ramos in McAllen on Friday morning.

Customs officers reported that Palacios-Garcia is a 28-year-old Mexican national who lives in Reynosa.

Judge Ramos denied bond for Palacios-Garcia until a Wednesday morning hearing.
