A sign outside Chaparral Adult Day Care in Mission claims the company is hiring.
Former employee Sandra Galaviz said she can't understand how.
She told Action 4 News the day care can't even pay her about $3,000 in late wages.
“I'm going to say more than 80 hours,” said Galaviz.
When Action 4 News visited Chaparral Adult Day Care, two women were loading items from the building into a van.
The two claimed they were not day care workers and did not know how to contact the day care owner.
Galaviz gave Action 4 News the cell phone numbers she had for those in charge.
Action 4 got no answer.
Galaviz said when she asks where her money is, the day care owner blames the state for not releasing funds.
"I mean that's to support my family, my house, my everything,” said Galaviz.
Galaviz said she has yet to pay this month's electricity.
Her children are worried.
Galaviz said several other employees are owed money from this adult day care, all with families to take care of.
The adult day care was not open Sunday.
Action 4 News did contact the state department accused of not releasing funds.
They are now looking into the matter.
