Authorities are investigating how $485,000 dollars in cash ended up inside a car pulled over for a traffic stop in McAllen.

It all happened near the intersection off West Trenton Road near Main Street around 6 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that a police officer pulled over a blue Chevrolet truck for a traffic violation.

The officer got consent to search the truck and allegedly found $485,000 dollars in cash inside.

The case has been turned over the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for further investigation.
