A Starr County man who prompted a school lockdown in Sinton is expected to face a judge at the Cameron County Jail.

Texas Rangers arrested 25-year-old Israel Loredo in Brownsville on Tuesday.

The Rio Grande City man is accused of texting his ex-wife to tell her that he was coming with a gun and taking his kids out of their elementary school in Sinton.

The woman told authorities who reacted by placing the school under lockdown.

Cameron County Jail records show that Loredo was arrested on a terroristic threat charge and an outstanding warrant for evading arrest in a motor vehicle.

Loredo is expected to appear before a Cameron County magistrate judge on Wednesday morning.

He is facing extradition to Sinton.
