Action 4 News viewers pledged more than $181,000 dollars for the Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon.
The telethon ran from 6 p.m. to midnight on Sunday marking a new era of prime-time telethons that MDA has started.
In six hours time, the organization $61,491,393 dollars nationwide.
Organizers said that's up from the $58,919,838 achieved during the prior year’s 21.5-hour Telethon.
This is the biggest Telethon achievement since 2008, when the global recession began.
Rio Grande Valley residents pledged a total of $181,808 dollars for the telethon.
