Woman jailed for attacking Willacy County probation officer

A Willacy County probation officer is brutally attacked while meeting with a probationer on Thursday.

Raymondville police 36-year-old Christina Salas on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer charge Friday monring.

According to Sheriff Larry Spence, Salas was meeting with the probation officer when she lunged at the officer and started beating her with a screw driver.

Someone in the officer heard noise coming from the room and walked in. Spence says that person had to pull the probationer off the officer.

It is not know what lead to the attack. The probation officer suffered a broken, finger and has some brusing.

Salas was taken into custody where bond information wasn't immediately available.

The victim was identified as the sister of Raymondville Police Chief Ubaldo Zamora.

The Willacy County District Attorney's Office has cleared the Raymondville Police Department to continue to investigate the case.
