Rio Hondo man hospitalized after being 'ambushed' and attacked

Authorities are looking for a man who allegedly ambushed and attacked his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend.

It all happened at a home off North Reynolds Road about 2 and a half miles north of Rio Hondo around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators told Action 4 News the attacker was waiting her his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend to arrive home.

The man was beaten so bad that he had to be rushed to a local hospital.

No word on his condition but both Rio Hondo police and Cameron County Sheriff’s Department deputies were at the scene.

Investigators told Action 4 News that they’re looking for the suspect who was identified at 37-year-old Saul Garcia.

They believe Garcia may have fled the scene with a blunt object used in the attack.

Action 4 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
