A group of teachers are in Joplin helping rebuild the community, and those here in the Valley had a lot to do with making the trip possible.

Lonestar National Bank, The Valley Town Crier and Sylvan Learning Center helped make the trip possible for seven McAllen teachers to travel to Joplin for the weekend.

The group is helping teachers and students overcome the devestation.

They will be moving furniture, setting up classrooms and helping the community get ready for school.

FedEx McAllen is also helping out by picking up boxes of books donated by the community and taking them to Joplin.

The Valley Town Crier is still collecting new and gently used books.

Just head to 1811 North 23rd street in McAllen.
