A Corpus Christi man has pleaded guilty to his role in a corruption case filed against former 404th State District Judge Abel Limas.
Armando Peña appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Ronald Morgan in Brownsville on Tuesday morning.
Peña pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting honest services wire fraud.
Judge Morgan ordered that Peña appear before U.S. District Court Judge Andrew Hanen for sentencing on October 31st.
He admitted to bribing conspiring with his wife Karina Peña to get Judge Limas to allow him to report by mail for his probation in an aggravated robbery case.
The couple moved to Arkansas and used middleman Jose Manuel Longoria to pay Limas to make the change.
Judge Hanen allowed Karina Peña to remain free on bond but she is not allowed to speak to her husband about the case.
Armando Peña remains in custody without bond.
Limas, who also pleaded guilty in his case, is expected to be sentenced on October 3rd.
