Two Southmost parents are behind bars after authorities found their three children home alone with crack cocaine and marijuana in the kitchen.

Cameron County Sheriff's Department deputies arrested 28-year-old Durvick De Los Santos and his 23-year-old wife Beatriz Arambul on multiple charges on Monday.

Court records show that deputies received reports that their Villa Bonita Street home was being used as the center for an illegal drug delivery business.

Undercover officers were on stakeout when they saw De Los Santos and another man leave.

A deputy pulled De Los Santos over and smelled a heavy odor of burnt marijuana.

De Los Santos admitted to smoking marijuana with the other man just before getting pulled over and gave deputies consent to search his home.

Deputies found three children ages 1 to 8 years old home alone.

De Los Santos told deputies that he had left them alone to go run a quick errand.

Court records show that De Los Santos' wife showed up at the home told deputies that she had also left the children home alone to run an errand.

Deputies reported finding a digital scale with cocaine residue and 46.6 grams of crack cocaine in a box of sandwich bags inside a kitchen cabinet.

Authorities also found about 0.21 ounces of marijuana on top of the kitchen counter.

Jail records show that both De Los Santos and Arambul were each charged with three counts of child abandonment/endangerment, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

Both of them appeared before a Cameron County magistrate judge on Tuesday morning where they each received a total of $43,000 dollars in bonds.

Court records show that De Los Santos has a criminal history going back to 2002, which includes arrests for assault and drugs.
