Husband expected to plead guilty on Thursday
A Brownsville woman has pleaded guilty to her role in a corruption case filed against former 404th State District Judge Abel Limas.
Karina Peña appeared before U.S. District Court Judge Andrew S. Hanen in Brownvsville on Tuesday morning.
Peña pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting honest services wire fraud.
Judge Hanen ordered that Peña appear for sentencing on October 24th.
She's accused of bribing Judge Limas to allow her husband Armando Peña to report by mail for his probation in an aggravated robbery case.
The couple moved to Arkansas and paid Limas to make the change.
Court records show that Armando Peña is expected to enter a guilty on plea before Judge Hanen on Thursday.
Judge Hanen allowed Karina Peña to remain free on bond but she is not allowed to speak to her husband about the case.
Armando Peña remains in custody without bond.
Limas, who also pleaded guilty in his case, is expected to be sentenced on October 3rd.
