A convicted sex offender from Harlingen may soon be facing new charges after being arrested for failing to notify authorities that he had moved.

Harlingen police arrested 29-year-old Noe Villalobos Jr. on a duty to register charge on Monday.

Court records show that authorities first learned Villalobos moved when a woman came forward to report a child molestation case.

The woman told police that Villalobos had been living with her family at a mobile home off Wilson Road.

Villalobos had registered at another trailer back on June 3rd but got kicked out by his in-law and stayed with the woman for about two weeks.

Investigators told Action 4 News that they learned Villalobos had moved to San Benito and had not registered with authorities.

Records show that officers arrested Villalobos when he showed up for a probation appointment.

The 29-year-old man appeared before a Harlingen municipal judge on Tuesday where he was issued a $40,000 dollar bond.

Charges have not been filed based on the woman’s new allegations but Villalobos remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail.

Under Texas state law, convicted sex offenders are supposed to notify authorities about their address changes.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Sex Offender Registry show that Villalobos was convicted of molesting a 10-year-old girl back in 2001.
