Time is ticking away for Texas Gov. Rick Perry to add issues to his special session agenda.

One Rio Grande Valley lawmaker is hoping his bill will make the cut.

State Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. (D-Brownsville) wants southbound border checkpoints put in place.

The checkpoints would intercept guns and cash headed into Mexico.

Opponents to the checkpoints say it may spur racial profiling and disrupt business between the two nations.
