A Cameron County family is accused of violating state colonia prevention laws when they created an RV park in the Port Isabel area.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott filed an injunction in Travis County against Phillip C. Watrous, Jeanine Watrous and the Watrous Family Living Trust on Wednesday.

The family is accused of improperly not bonding or installing water and sewage connections on their land, which was used to create the RV park back in 2008.

According to the lawsuit, the family did not get approval from the Cameron County Commissioners Court for the project.

A total of nine mobile homes and four efficiency apartments were allegedly placed on the property.

The family could face up to $15,000 dollars in fines for each improperly leased lot.
