Authorities are investigating how more than 2,700 pounds of marijuana ended up in a chicken coop in a rural area of Starr County.

It all happened in a ranch near the rural community of Escobares on Wednesday.

U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents reported authorities found  239 bundles with 2,765 pounds of marijuana inside four abandoned chicken coops and an outhouse.

No arrests were made during the incident but the marijuana was seized as evidence.

ICE officials said they are continuing to investigate how the marijuana got there and who put it there.
