A man in Zapata County is arrested and charged with hitting fence and attacking a Game Warden.

Sheriff Deputies said Alex Navarro struck a fence at a home located on the 1600 block of Guerrero Avenue around 8:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

According to a police report, an off-duty Game Warden identified himself and tried to stop Navarro from getting away, but he refused.

We’re told Navarro then tried to run over the off-duty Game Warden with his 2000 GMC pick-up truck.

The Game Warden did fire at least one shot according to authorities, but was not injured.

Navarro, 20, is being held at the Zapata County Regional Jail on multiple charges including evading arrest and aggravated assault on a Public Servant.

It's unknown why the suspect was trying to get away or if this incident is linked to border violence.
