A San Benito couple is facing criminal charges following an investigation into illegal cash payouts at two local video gambling arcades.
Cameron County District Attorney's Office investigators arrested Aquiles Oliva-Nino and his wife Alejandra Abigail Gonzalez late Monday.
The couple was accused of engaging in organized crime, money laundering, keeping a gambling place, gambling promotion and possession of gambling device charges.
Court records released on Tuesday show that the Oliva-Nino owns video gambling machines at the Lucky Day Arcade off South McCullough Drive and the Las Flores Arcade off West Business 77.
An undercover investigation back in April revealed that the two '8-liner' arcades were making illegal cash payouts.
Investigators linked Oliva-Nino and members of his family to the aracdes. Court records show that he and his family are undocumented immigrants.
Both Oliva-Nino and Gonzalez appeared before Cameron County Magistrate Judge Luis Saenz late Monday night.
Judge Saenz issued $32,500 dollars in bonds for each of them.
Jail records show that Border Patrol agents filed a detainer against Oliva-Nino.
