He led police on a chase that topped out at speeds up to 100 mph and now, Edward Lee Treviño is behind bars.

Authorities arrested the La Blanca man on evading arrest on possession of marijuana charges on Sunday.

Treviño led authorities on a chase that last one hour, went through most of northern Cameron County and ended near Santa Rosa.

La Feria Police Chief Donato Garcia told Action 4 News that investigators found 119 bundles with 850 pounds of marijuana inside Treviño's car.

Officials estimate the drugs are worth more than $709,000 dollars on the streets.

Treviño appeared before Cameron County Pct. 7 Justice of the Peace Adam Gonzales on Monday afternoon.

During the court hearing, investigators revealed that Treviño is from Saginaw, Michigan and only recently moved to the Rio Grande Valley where he had been working for a mechanic's shop.

Judge Gonzales issued $40,000 dollars in bonds for Treviño, who remains in custody at the Cameron County jail.
