A 2-year-old boy is safe after an incident were a man barricaded himself inside a home across the street from Coakley Middle School and then fled the scene.
It started after a domestic disturbance around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Harlingen police told Action 4 News that a 25-year-old man had barricaded himself a home off the 700 block of Taft Avenue with the 2-year-old boy.
Authorities found the boy unharmed but the man had fled the scene.
A helicopter was searching from the skies while police, SWAT team and Border Patrol are searching the area for the suspect.
The suspect was last reported to be off 77 Sunshine Strip or in the Arroyo Colorado area.
Authorities ended the search without success.
The 25-year-old suspect remains at large but police have not released his name or a photo.
Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District officials temporarily placed both Coakley Middle School and Sam Houston Elementary School under lockdown as a precaution.
School district officials said TAKS testing was interrupted by the standoff but that students have resumed taking the test while under lockdown.
