A Brownsville man is behind bars after tying up a lifelong friend up with duct tape.
Brownsville police arrested 37-year-old Juan Carlos Garcia on multiple charges on Thursday.
Investigators told Action 4 News that Garcia is accused of unlawful restraint and cocaine possession.
The cases started at the 77 Flea Market late Sunday morning.
Police said a man approached an off-duty officer and told him he had been held against his will by Garcia.
The man told investigators that Garcia had tied him up with duct tape at a home off Soto Drive, located a few blocks away from the flea market.
A motive is not clear but the two had been drinking heavily and a mutual friend freed him when Garcia passed out.
Brownsville police and the U.S. Marshals located Garcia off Central Boulevard and Media Luna Road on Thursday.
Garcia appeared before a Brownsville municipal judge on Friday where he was issued $20,000 dollars in bonds.
Investigators said Garcia and the victim were lifelong friends who grew up together and called each other cousins.
