One man is dead and one of his relatives is in the hospital following an accident on the expressway in front of Brownsville’s Sunrise Mall.
It all happened near U.S. Expressway 77/83 and Pablo Kisel Boulevard around 12:31 p.m. Friday.
Brownsville police told Action 4 News that 33-year-old Jose Antonio Aldama was driving his 1999 Ford Taurus when the hood of the car opened.
The Brownsville man stopped in the middle of the expressway.
That’s when a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado truck driven by 30-year-old Kingsville resident Jose Luis Resendiz struck and hit the Taurus from behind.
Aldama was killed in the accident. His 26-year-old passenger Abraham Aldama was injured and taken to the Valley Baptist Medical Center where he’s expected to recover.
Paramedics rushed Resendiz to the Valley Regional Medical Center where he’s expected to recover.
No charges have been filed in the accident, which remains under investigation.
