15 immigrants rescued from Hidalgo settling basin

Authorities report that 15 illegal immigrants are safe and sound after being rescued from the waters of a settling basin in Hidalgo.

Border Patrol offiicals told Action 4 News that the rescue took place early Monday morning.

Agents were patrolling are area at the end of South 15th Street when they noticed the immigrants had become distressed.

Many of the immigrants were reportedly struggling to stay afloat.

Border Patrol agents along with Hidalgo police and firefighters were able to get the group safely out of the water.

None of the immigrants were injured but are being processed for deportation.
