World War II-era rifles stolen from Raymondville VFW

Raymondville police are searching for a burglar or burglars who broke into a local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post and stole 10 World War II-era rifles.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the crime took place at VFW Post 6719 off South 3rd Street early Friday morning.

Police said a burglar or burglars stole 10 World War II-era M-1 carbine rifles.

VFW members used the rifles to perform 21-gun salutes when honoring fallen service men and women who are laid to rest.

According to the website www.gunsamerica.com, the World War II rifles can fetch between $2,995 to $1,300 dollars each.

The Willacy County Crime Stoppers are offering  a $1,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of the rifles and arrested of the suspect or suspects.
