For the next few days the Loaves and Fishes shelter in Harlingen will be open around the clock, catering to those in need.
Shelter attendee Julie Field tells Action 4 News, "It's good to know that there is a place that is here for me, losing everything", said Field.
Field is staying nice and warm, protected from the bitter cold.
"I would say if anybody needs help or is going to sleep outside in this type of weather these people are fine people and they will bring them in", said Field.
"We want them here, we care about them", said Executive Director of Loaves and Fishes Pastor Bill Reagan.
From hot meals to coats, those with nowhere else to go will be taken care of.
The shelter is even relaxing identification requirements for people who come in.
"Because some people out on the street don’t have good ID and we want to make sure nobody is turned away because they don't have proper ID", said Reagan.
Pastor Reagan adds with these cold conditions no one should be sleeping out on the streets.
"I want to tell anybody who might be watching who knows of somebody who is on the street go get them bring them to us we want them here because we just don't want anyone to suffer because of the cold", said Reagan.
