Eight accused members of the Gulf Cartel are behind bars following a shootout in a Matamoros neighborhood.
Officials with the Mexican Navy (SEMAR) reported the battle took place in the La Encantad neighborhood of Matamoros on Saturday.
During the fight, marines arrested eight gunmen identified as:
• Gustavo Garcia-Hernandez
• Francisco E. Lara-Gonzalez
• Leonardo Daniel Medina-Mata
• Ernesto Marín Radriguez-Ramirez
• Abraham Garcia-Bautista
• Gerardo Torres-Garza
• Omar Mireles-Martinez
• Luis A. Moreno-Perez
Marines also reported seizing two trucks, three rifles, six fire arms, ammo and clothing with the CDG insignia, used to identify the Cartel Del Golfo or Gulf Cartel.
The men and the items were turned over to prosecutors.
