The controversial voter ID Bill passed in the Senate on Wednesday night with a vote of 19 to 11.
The next step is for this piece of legislation to go to the House of Representatives.
Though its not in law yet, Cameron County Election Official Rodger Ortiz has been bombarded with phone calls about the issue.
He told Action4 News that the county could have to pay for it but won’t know anything until it goes to the House.

Luis Rodriguez at first didn't like the idea, but after looking at the pros and cons, he agrees with the need for voters to show photo ID.
Whether you are a Democrat or Republican, Ortiz says his office will be ready.
The bill still needs to be passed by the House.
But if there are no provisions to Senate Bill 14, voters who do not have identification will not be able to vote.
