Ton of marijuana seized from old FedEx truck in La Havana

Authorities have seized more than a ton of marijuana from old FedEx truck used as a cover for smuggling drugs in La Havana.

Border Patrol agents reported it all happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that Border Patrol agents noticed the driver acting suspicious.

Border Patrol agents tried to pull the FedEx truck over the the driver kept going all the way to the Rio Grande River near Peñitas.

The driver bailed out and swam to Mexico.

Investigators found more than 2,300 pounds of marijuana inside the FedEx truck.

Border Patrol agents told Action 4 News that the FedEx truck was real but had been decommissioned by the company.

Investigators said the logos had not been removed from the delivery truck.
