The United States celebrated Martin Luther King Day on Monday.

But students at the University of Texas at Brownsville celebrated in a unique way.

Instead of taking the day off, they embraced a day of service.

More than 400 UTB students volunteered their time on Monday.

Some read to children while others helped the community picking up trash.

Organizers said it was all done with the same goal: to set an example as Dr. King did.
