San Juan Police told Action 4 News that Ruben Rodriguez was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault after he allegedly drugged and raped a 17-year-old boy.
Police said for months the teen lived with Rodriguez at his home on San Francisco Street in San Juan.
They said the teen worked with Rodriguez in the fields of Oregon and willingly followed him down to the Valley.
It was once the teen got here that his new life quickly became a nightmare.
Police said the teen did make an outcry to Rodriguez’s son, Aurelio, but the cry went unheard and Aurelio allegedly beat up the teen for making such an accusation.
‘Jessica’, who only has a fence separating her from Rodriguez’s home, said she was shocked by the accusations and worries about the safety of her kids.
"It worries me because my mom lives here and I sometimes leave my kids here with my mom so it scares me,” said Jessica.
Jessica is not alone—both Juanita Sanchez and Teresa Mata live just feet from Rodriguez.
They said they never met him or knew much about him.
“We didn’t get involved with him and he didn’t’ get involved with us,” said Sanchez.
They said, while they did not know him they never expected hi could commit such alleged acts of perversion.
"I'm surprised what you're telling me...you just never know who you live next to," said Sanchez.
As for Mata—she said now that she is aware, of what happened inside of that home just three houses down from her own, she will be more alert of those who live around her.
"Now that we know about this we need to take care of ourselves and family more,” said Mata. “The police should be more vigilant too---I mean I have grandkids to think about."
Rodriguez was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault and could face additional charges of human trafficking.
As for the teen—he was sent back home to his parents in Washington State.
