It’s been 3 months since we have seen a decent drop of rain across the valley, the last time was in September due to a tropical system.

With La Nina in control of our weather, many are concerned about the impacts this dry weather will have on our crops.

Over the past several weeks, many have witnessed several brush fires, conditions we are getting used to here in the valley.

Farmers are now concerned a brush fire may get out of fire fighters control and destroy their crops.

The drought has caused famers taping into their well system for water.

For the year, Brownsville is above normal in rainfall; however, for the month of December, we are an inch below normal.

Our current drought situation is still moderate, but officials warn, it could get worse.

Famers and officials are also worried that the strong La Nina will bring a powerful hurricane season which could bring devastation to their crops come summer.
