McAllen police report they are investigating a gruesome Thursday afternoon discovery.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the body of a dead baby girl was found in a shipment of used clothing.

According to police, a worker found the baby girl's body inside a box of clothing from Arizona at a warehouse on the 3000 block of West Ash Street.

The newborn girl still had the umbilical cord attached.

At this time, police have not identified the baby, do not know how or when the infant died.
