A Weslaco woman is facing criminal charges after a DWI hit-and-run accident where a 5-year-old girl was inside her SUV.

Weslaco police arrested 18-year-old Yvette Joy Flores on state jail felony DWI and failure to stop and give information charges late Tuesday night.

Investigators told Action 4 News that Flores was behind the wheel of a white 1998 Ford Explorer.

Officers said she hit a car the intersection of North Texas Boulevard and Expressway 83 at 10:28 p.m. Tuesday.

Flores allegedly took off but the driver of the other car followed her.

The 18-year-old woman allegedly hit a curb causing her SUV to rollover but it landed on its four tires.

Investigators said a man and a 5-year-old girl got out of the SUV but Flores drove home where she was arrested.

Flores appeared before a Weslaco municipal judge on Wednesday morning where she was issued $17,500 dollars in bonds.
