While election night may be over  long time Congressman Solomon Ortiz is asking for a manual recount.

The man who came out on top is not backing down.

"I'm the winner of this race, I don't have any doubt about that", said Blake Farenthold.

The Republican told Action 4 News the voters have spoken and elected him to represent District 27.

It’s a move that pushed out long time Congressman Solomon Ortiz.

"I'm really excited the voters honored me by choosing me to represent them in Washington D.C.", said Farenthold.

Farenthold was the guest of honor at a meet and greet dinner reception in Brownsville Friday night.

While Farenthold says it's time to move on, Ortiz is not giving up without a fight.

On Thursday a mystery bag with seven uncounted ballots was discovered at the Nueces County Courthouse in Corpus Christi.

The ballots reportedly came from a polling place in Robstown and favored Ortiz.

"It's important that every vote gets counted that's critical, but you know we have an 800 vote difference right now", said Farenthold. "And I'm saying I've won this race, he's not going to find 800 votes honesty"

Farenthold tells Action 4 News he's focused on moving forward.

"The time were wasting with this recount is nonsense. It is taking away from time that I could be preparing to represent this district and in getting better jobs, get the things we need down here serving the constituents in South Texas.", said Farenthold.

Farenthold heads to Washington D.C. on November 14th for Freshman orientation.

He's also in the middle of excepting resumes and hiring staff.

Farenthold who resides in Corpus Christi will be back in the Rio Grande Valley next week.

Meanwhile Solomon Ortiz's staff has started putting together the documents necessary to request a recount.
