An alleged arson spree ended with a Harlingen being arrested on multiple criminal charges.
Harlingen police arrested 23-year-old Ricardo Reyes on Thursday morning.
Investigators told Action 4 News that firefighters responded to multiple fires on East Filmore, Pierce and Taylor Avenues.
Nobody was hurt in the fire but there were more than $1,000 dollars in damages to trash cans, brush piles, a telephone pedestal, stacks of hay, privacy fencing and a storage building.
Investigators told Action 4 News that an officer stopped Reyes near the scene of one of the fires but released him after Reyes allegedly used a fake name and date of birth.
A detetive found Reyes in a home off Little Creek Drive where there was a baggie of marijuana in plain sight.
Police arrested Reyes for the marijuana and learned his true identity.
Reyes admitted to starting the fires. Investigators charged him with two counts of arson, two counts of criminal mischief, failure to identify and possession of marijuana.
The 23-year-old man appeared before Harlingen municipal judge on Friday morning where he was issued $12,500 dollars in bonds.
