Three crew members from a Brownsville shrimp boat are back on dry land following a dramatic rescue out at sea.

U.S. Coast guard officials told Action 4 News that it happened about 25 miles northeast of the jetties around 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Coast Guard officials received a distress call and responded by sending helicopters, aircraft and rescue boats to the area.

Rescuers found a shrimp boat named the "Stone Mountain" about 50-percent flooded and sinking.

Investigators said the boat had a leak on a seal causing it to take water.

Rescuers pumped out the water, fixed the leak and got the crew members to safety.

The boat was en route back to the Brownsville shrimp basin as of Wednesday afternoon.
