A couple of months after historic flooding hit the Rio Grande, officials are once again increasing the amount of water coming out of Falcon Dam.
The International Boundary and Water Commission is making the move Friday morning.
The flow of water is increasing from 11,500 cubic feet per second to 15,000 cubic feet per second.
The reservoir has been rising due to heavy rains.
These releases are only one-fourth of the peak releases that happened in July.
The commission also plans to divert water into the floodway system in the lower valley this week.
Flooding is not expected from the additional water release.
