Gustavo Merez said when it rains he has to park his cars a quarter of a mile from his home.

“Many times we’ve had to walk,” said Merez.

Merez said the road used to be taken care of but since Hurricane Dolly, that stopped and the road started to deteriorate.

“All of these years this never happened,” said Merez. “This is a sad situation for all of us.”

Merez said his main concern is his family.

“My mom is 82 and has had three strokes already,” said Merez.

Action 4 News took Merez’s concerns to Precinct 1 County Commissioner A.C. Cuellar.

He said the road does not belong to the County and is actually a private road.

Cuellar did say he would try and work with Merez to see if they could come up with a solution.

Until that time, Merez and his family will continue their muddy trek down Railroad Avenue.
