It's the largest High School Marching Band La Feria High School has had in recent history, little over two hundred members.

As Action 4 News uncovered despite the heat the band must play on.

Armed with instruments, the La Feria High School band is on a mission, but learning new music inside the band hall is only half the battle.

After rehearsing inside for awhile the band starts marching drills outside.

Band Director Eddie Benitez tells Action 4 News, "Everyone is very dedicated."

Listening to Band Director Eddie Benitez's commands students are eager to learn the new drills.

Senior Trumpet player Jeremy Lozano tells Action 4 News, "Everybody has to do their own part if one person's out of place it will make everybody look wrong so we all try to do our best.."

The marching band has been practicing for a few weeks, but this is the first time the students are juggling back to school and extra curricular activities.

French Horn player John Butler tells Action 4 News, "Staying out here until 9:00 o clock and then finally going home trying to get our homework done but you know it will be worth the effort everything they put into it.”

Band members say it takes determination, especially when it comes to dealing with the heat.

Mikayla Johnson tells Action 4 News, "It's hot but I guess we like have to deal with it because we want to get in division one so we just try out best."

Not to mention the occasional water breaks that help keep these students cool.

For now these band members will keep working, learning new drills for their new show with a new theme.

Jeremy Lozano says, "It's all about flight and adventure."

An exciting show they will soon showcase to the public.

The La Feria High School Marching Band's public debut will be at Friday nights football game as the team takes on Hidalgo.
