Criminal charges against Indian Lake Police Chief John Chambers have been dropped ending a one-year legal battle.

Prosecutors filed a motion to dismission criminal charges against Chambers in the 445th State District  Court on Monday.

An elderly woman accused Chambers of roughing her up during a town hall meeting back in July 2009.

A Cameron County grand jury indicted Chambers on an official oppression charge in February 2010.

Court records show that the order to dismiss the case was signed and made official on Tuesday.

Prosecutors are reserving the right to re-indict and/or re-file the case.
