A 26-year-old man is behind bars after he went on a handgun shopping spree in order to send them south of the border to Mexico.

Federal court records show that Jesus Quintanilla is facing federal firearms charges.

The records show that the 26-year-old man bought two AK-47-styled pistols and two handguns on Thursday, July 8th.

Quintanilla is accused of buying two Draco 7.62 caliber pistols and two Beretta 92FS 9mm handguns with the intention of delivering them to somebody in Mexico.

The records show that Quintanilla tried to buy an AK-47 at two stores in McAllen on Wednesday.

Both stores denied the sale to Quintanilla.

McAllen police pulled him over for an alleged traffic violation near North 5th Street and Business 83 where he was questioned by ATF agents.

Quintanilla told ATF agents that he's an American citizen and has a Texas driver's license but lives in Mexico.

The 26-year-old said all the guns were destined for somebody in Mexico.
