A Brownsville police officer doesn't even have to be on his motorcycle to bust speeders in the city.
Officer Guadalupe Izaguirre, Jr. met the Speedzapper Tuesday afternoon along Coveway Drive.
It's a street that sits between Price and Old Port Isabel Roads.
The area has been the scene of numerous traffic accidents, even a recent fatality involving a walker who was struck by a distracted driver, according to police.
Officer Izaguirre ticketed 10 speeders in less than 30 minutes without patrolling or hiding near brush as drivers sometimes accuse traffic patrol of doing.
Izaguirre averaged about 1 citation every 3 minutes by simply standing next to his parked bike and glancing at his mounted radar unit.
When a motorist sped at least 10 miles per hour over the posted 20 mph limit, he flagged them to pull over near the motorcycle and issued them a ticket.
