Authorities are asking area residents to avoid two neighborhoods in Reynosa's westide following reports of a shootout there.
Reynosa residents reported a shootout an possible deaths near the Plaza Periferico on the highway to Monterrey shortly before 6:25 p.m. Monday.
City officials issued a warning for the nearby Colonia Villa Florida shortly after.
Authorities are asking resident to avoid the Colonia Villa Florida and an adjacent neighborhood.
The shootout follows an evening of gunfire, grenades and blockades that rocked the city and trapped shoppers inside stores in different parts of the city Sunday evening.
